Catalina to Add 190 Business Traveler Suites in the Fall

. October 14, 2008

JUNE 27, 2007. The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club, a boutique hotel on famed Collins Avenue, is proud to announce its acquisition of the Dorset Hotel and the intent to convert it into a hip haven for business travelers. The existing Dorset Hotel, located at 1720 Collins Ave., is next door to the Catalina and will now be under the Catalina brand name. The newly acquired 190-room hotel will remain open during renovations, and a grand opening for the business traveler suites is planned for fall 2007.

"The Catalina is already favored by the vacation crowd," said Alan Lieberman, owner of Catalina Hotel. "With the acquisition and renovation of the Dorset, the Catalina expands its appeal to target business travelers who want to stay on Collins Avenue without mortgaging their house."

The new business traveler suites will retain the affordability and stylish spirit that the Catalina is known for-but in a low-key environment with an emphasis on amenities that cater to business travelers. In addition to creating an upscale sushi restaurant, a conference room/library and a rooftop terrace for corporate events, each suite will be equipped with office supplies and free WIFI access.

The suites will be designed with a boutique sensibility, which means plasma TVs, modern bathroom fixtures and mini-bars, Swedish mattresses with goose-down comforters and white duvets come standard. In addition to a spacious, well-lit desk area in each suite, guests in the new executive building may utilize the services of Catalina's personal office assistants, who will print presentations, conduct research or handle other administrative tasks. Rates for the new executive suites will be announced later this summer.
