Westin Seattle Adds Four New Executives

SEATTLE, WA, June 22, 2007. The Westin Seattle announced today the addition of four new managers to its team of more than 600 employees.

Michael Smutzer Promoted to Director of Front Office at The Westin Seattle:

Smutzer brings nearly 10 years of hospitality industry management to his new position where he oversees operations of the front office, concierge and the business center as well as coordinates the Manager on Duty program. He is a Six Sigma Green Belt. He has been with The Westin Seattle since 2000, serving previously as front desk manager and service express manager. He was honored with the manager of the quarter award in Q1 2007 and the 2002 Perfect Harmony award for excellence in teamwork and individual team contribution. Before joining the Westin, Smutzer was a manager at various hotels in Minnesota. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa.

Dana Smith Promoted to Director of Service Express at The Westin Seattle:

Smith brings more than 10 years combined management experience to her new position as director of Service Express, where she is responsible for all of The Westin Seattle's hotel guest services. Previously, Smith was general manager for The Westin at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall Opera House; The Westin Seattle is the exclusive food & beverage and catering company for McCaw Hall. During her four year stint there, Smith made tremendous financial strides for the company while building important relationships with the key players of the Seattle Opera, PNW Ballet and Seattle Center. She also served as chef de cuisine for the opening of McCaw Hall and prior to that as chef of CaterArts Seattle. Smith has a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant administration from Washington State University and completed a three year culinary apprenticeship with the Westin.

Kathy Fuentes Promoted to General Manager of The Westin at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall Opera House:

Fuentes was promoted from the position of front-of-house food & beverage lead supervisor at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall Opera House where The Westin Seattle is the exclusive food & beverage and catering company for McCaw Hall. After taking on that position in November 2003, Fuentes was an assistant housekeeping manager for The Westin Seattle. Her background also includes experience in marketing, merchandising and teaching. Fuentes holds an associate's degree from the Art Institute of Seattle.

Donald Gerrie Joins The Westin Seattle as Director of Housekeeping:

Gerrie comes to The Westin Seattle from Hyatt Regency, where he served for almost ten years as a manager in housekeeping and front office positions in hotels in Bellevue, Vancouver and San Antonio. There he also earned the honors of manager of the quarter in 2006 and manager of the year in 2004. Gerrie received a bachelor's degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism management from New Mexico State University.
