VingCard Receives Two ADEX Awards for Innovation

Platinum and Gold Awards for Design Excellence

. October 14, 2008

DALLAS, TX, June 20, 2007. Signature RFID by VingCard(R) was awarded the Platinum ADEX while Signature by VingCard(R) earned Gold in the 2006-07 Awards for Design Excellence, the largest and most prestigious awards competition for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade.

"Receiving the highest-level ADEX award for Signature RFID is an honor and a testament to the product's innovative design and application," said Marc Freundlich, president and CEO of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality North America. "Signature RFID offers the latest technology in contactless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), providing unmatched ease-of-use for guests and staff, more security, more selection in RFID carriers and less guess-work in selecting the right technology standard."

Signature RFID is a new contactless locking solution from VingCard featuring the latest 13.56MHz technology and a flexible platform that is compatible with the leading ISO standards (ISO 14443A/MiFare, ISO 14443B, ISO 15693) in one lock, eliminating the guess-work of selecting the right ISO standard. It also offers compatibility with Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled devices, including next-generation cell phones, allowing for remote check-in and check-out.

The unique contactless design of Signature RFID offers more intuitive guest interaction, as it is not necessary to insert a key card. Guest and staff cards are equipped with anti-cloning technology developed by VingCard specifically for RFID, which provides unsurpassed security not offered with mag-stripe technology. RFID technology also allows each hotel to tailor its offerings beyond keycards to include key fobs for VIP guests in business hotels or wristbands for all-inclusive resorts and spas. In addition to improved system functionality, Signature RFID is available in black, green, blue, red or orange, offering "chameleon" design compatibility allowing it to adapt to any hotel style.

"We are also pleased to see the Signature Lock series recognized with a Gold ADEX," Freundlich said. "Our Signature line was uniquely designed with human preference and ergonomic factors in mind, allowing it to match any hotel environment, regardless of style, while still offering the utmost in security standards."

Signature by VingCard was first introduced in 2005 and quickly became the choice electronic locking system for both U.S. and international hotel chains. The unique "chameleon concept" behind the Signature series was designed to ensure the highest flexibility for properties worldwide by offering lock designs from either Signature Trend or Signature D'ecor lines, with optional designers' collection handles from Valli & Valli, allowing hoteliers to customize their locks' features, finishes and handle selections. Based on the needs of hoteliers, security experts, architects and interior designers, the Trend line was designed for contemporary, minimalist hotel styles, while the D'ecor line complements more traditional, decorative styles. Additionally, VingCard's exclusive partnership with Valli & Valli offers hoteliers an unmatched opportunity to customize their security design.

ADEX entries are judged on form and function by an anonymous panel of professionals representing a cross-section of the design industry. Design Journal, the leading international trade publication for interior designers, founded the awards in 1994 to honor superior product design. This year's competition brought a record 1,858 product entries.
