Cool Jazz, Hot Entertainment on the Red River Riverfront

. October 14, 2008

SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY, LA, June 5, 2007. Smooth jazz, soulful blues tones, and a little bit of country will all be flowing from both banks of the Red River in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana this summer.

Horseshoe Casino and Hotel will be hosting its annual Summer Concert Series. This year's kick-off performer will be Johnny Lang, June 7. Lang is a Grammy-nominated performer who topped the Billboard new artist chart at the age of 15 with his album, Lie to Me. Also this summer at the Horseshoe will be the "Texas Country Roundup."

The roundup will feature three hot up-and-coming country stars all from Texas. Jack Ingram, Kevin Fowler, and the Eli Young Band will all be performing in the roundup. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Buddy Guy will be performing in the RiverDome this summer as well. Guy is best known for his strong guitar influence in many of today's artists and for his Chicago west-side sound. New Orleans natives, Better than Ezra, will be rounding out the concert series. Better than Ezra tore up the charts in the 90s, reaching #1 with their song Good.

Also along the riverfront this summer, the Barnwell Garden and Arts Center is hosting its second annual "Hot Jazz on the Red." The concert is held every Thursday night May 31-June 28. KSLA-TV 12, Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport and the Friends of Barnwell sponsor the event. There will be five free public concerts on the riverfront. Each concert will start at 6 p.m. and end around 7:30 p.m. The artists are professional jazz and blues performers. You are welcome to bring your picnic basket and enjoy cool non-alcoholic beverages from the cash bar.

The Louisiana Boardwalk, on the Bossier City side of the Red River, will be hosting entertainment during the summer as well. Buffalo Wild Wings, a local hot-spot, has opened their patio up to local entertainment throughout the summer. The Boardwalk will also feature various family entertainers on Wednesday nights all summer long.
