VANCOUVER, BC, Canada, March 26, 2008. Aussies are set to take over Vancouver next week for G'Day Vancouver: Australia Week 2008. With Australian themed events across the city, Australia Week is an opportunity for Canadians to immerse themselves in Australian culture, nature, food, wine, arts and entertainment.

Taking place from 3-6 April 2008, G'Day Vancouver: Australia Week 2008 is the largest single-destination promotion of its kind in Canada. Throughout the three days, downtown Vancouver will play host to Australia.com OzFlix Film Weekend; Macquarie Penfolds Wild Tasmania Gala; an Aussie Travel Expo; and Surf's Up! Sydney Foam Party - all in celebration of Australia's diverse culture and landscapes.

The events also mark the launch of a three-month long exhibition Planet OZ: Walk on Australia's Wild side at Vancouver's Science World.

A highlight of the celebrations will be the Macquarie Penfolds Wild Tasmania Gala at The Pan Pacific Hotel on Friday 4 April featuring a keynote address from 2007 Australian of the Year, Professor Tim Flannery. Themed around Australia's Tasmanian Wilderness and with cuisine prepared by internationally-acclaimed Australian Aboriginal Chef Mark Olive and served with Penfolds Estates premium wines - the event will be a unique and elegant occasion for guests to be indulged in the finest of Australian hospitality.

Planet Oz: Walk on Australia's Wild Side is an interactive and educational exhibition allowing visitors to walk through different Australian ecosystems and learn about how some of the world's most amazing creatures adapted to their natural environment, what they eat, how they live and how they continue to survive today. From the cute and cuddly koalas, wallabies, the laughing kookaburra, and little fairy penguins to the carnivorous Tasmanian Devil and the marine life of the Great Barrier Reef - visitors will be left with a real sense of natural life Down Under as they take a walk through Australia's wild side.

Canadians wanting to research their next Australian vacation will get the perfect opportunity at the Aussie Travel Expo, 5 - 6 April at Science World where Australian travel experts will be on hand to give out their top tips and travel advice. Guests will also have the opportunity to view IMAX Film Australia: Land Beyond Time and see live musical performances.

And Vancouver's Gay and Lesbian Community are invited to get wet and wild on 3 April at G'Day Vancouver's Surfs Up! Sydney Foam Party presented by Xtra West. The event will bring Sydney's world famous gay party scene to Vancouver's Celebrities Night club as part of the G'Day Vancouver festivities.
