"...Newfoundland - it's now home to one of the game's Canadian Crown jewels."

. October 14, 2008

NEWFOUNDLAND, Canada, June 9, 2008. Humber Valley Resort (www.humbervalley.com), located on the western coast of Newfoundland, today announces that its awe-inspiring River Course is officially open for the 2008 season. Following an award-winning 2007, the Doug Carrick-designed golf course is in spectacular shape for the upcoming season which, weather permitting, will run from now until late October. Daylight hours last from 6:30am until as late as 10:00pm in mid-summer, allowing golfers to easily play two rounds in a day. With its layout of gently rolling terrain, generous fairways and undulating greens, the River Course provides a challenge for golfers at all levels. Adult green fees range from CAD$70 to $120 (approx. lb35 to lb60) with twilight and other promotional rates available so golfers are certain to receive great value for the privilege to play such a high standard and well managed course.

"We are extremely excited for this upcoming season," says Jamie Digby, Humber Valley Resort's Golf Professional. "The course is in superb shape this year and we look forward to welcoming golfers from all over the world."

Humber Valley Resort's 18-hole, par 72 championship course measures 7,199 yards (6,578 metres) and affords dramatic views over the valley, including Deer Lake and the Humber River. In 2007, the River Course received numerous awards including ScoreGolf Magazine's Best New Golf Course, Golf Magazine's Best New International Course, Golf Digest's Best New Canadian Course (3rd place) and Golf Punk Magazine's Worldwide Resort of the Year for the second year in a row.

In addition to the awards, the River Course has received praise from top golf writers who have experienced the resort and course. Robert Thompson, a columnist with ScoreGolf, National Post and Ontario Golf along with being a Contributing Editor at Travel & Leisure Golf said, "The River Course is one of Canada's most stunning and intriguing designs. Set in the valley along a mountain range, designer Doug Carrick found remarkable natural vistas and crafted a course of immense scale."

While Jim Byers, from the Toronto Star, when asked what he thought of the River Course, said "Awesome. Unexpectedly spectacular scenery and a great layout." And Golf Punk Magazine referred to the River Course as "God's own golf course."

The River course was listed in the annual Golf Value Guide for 2008 in Up!, WestJet's inflight magazine. As the only course from eastern Canada in the Golf Value Guide for 2008 in Up!, WestJet's inflight magazine, James McCarten wrote, "Forget what you think you may know about golf in Newfoundland - it's now home to one of the game's Canadian Crown jewels."

Among the favourite holes of the River Course is the par-four tenth hole. With an elevation change of almost 200 feet from tee to green, this hole is perhaps the most dramatic hole on the River Course and is ranked the toughest on the back nine. Ted McIntyre, Editor of GolfStyle Magazine and contributor to National Post Golf, Ontario Golf and Toronto Golf said: "The moment they unveiled Humber Valley, it became the best course to be built on Canada's East Coast in fifty years. While every visitor will initially experience the whiplash effect of the jaw-dropping view from the tenth tee as it plunges to the valley floor, the true golf connoisseurs will appreciate the consistent strength and shot values of the course from the opening tee shot to the daunting approach to a water-guarded 18th green. Bring your A game. More importantly, bring a camera."

Anita Draycott, the managing editor of GolfStyle Magazine, referred to the tenth hole as "the real showstopper." While Grant Fraser, who praises the course in the 2008 edition of Tee to Green says, "Without question, Humber Valley is Canada's best new golf course. Doug Carrick has hit another home run. You'll be hard pressed to find a better hole anywhere in the world than Humber Valley's breathtaking tenth hole."

Humber Valley Resort is excited about the 2008 season. With a full fleet of golf carts in place this year, the course will be ready to host the Tely Junior Tour (www.telytour.ca) for the first time on July 17, 2008. And for the avid golfers, the Resort will be hosting weekly skins game every Tuesday night.
