Raffles Moscow to Open in 2011

. October 14, 2008

JUNE 11, 2008. Raffles Hotels & Resorts has extended its presence to the Russian capital city of Moscow, in the Kitay-Gorod district. This exceptional location places Raffles Moscow in the heart of the city, in close proximity to renowned landmarks such as the Red Square, Kremlin and Bolshoy Theatre.

The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Red Square and one block away from, what is known not only in Moscow but in whole of Russia as 'Tretryakoviskiy proezd', home of the most luxurious and prestigious shops.

Raffles Moscow is a heritage building originally built as a private residence by the Saltykov brothers in the mid 17th century. In 1842, enterprising members of the Chizhov family acquired the building and added new extensions in order to house merchant shops and furnished apartments for rent. Thereafter, the building took the name of 'Chizhevskoe Podvorie'. This stately building, which is under an investment contract between Moscow Government and ALT Corporation, will soon undergo redevelopment in order to transform it into the luxurious Raffles Moscow where guests will be able to experience the heartfelt and gracious service for which Raffles is renowned.

When the hotel opens in 2011, it will feature 130 spacious and elegantly appointed rooms. Guestrooms at Raffles Moscow will be residential sanctuaries ensconced in privacy, offering the distinctive sense of refined elegance and luxury found at all Raffles hotels and resorts. Raffles Moscow will be part of a larger development, which will include apartments, high-end retail galleries as well as historic buildings, such as an 18th century Russian Orthodox Church and the house where Napoleon Bonaparte occasionally stayed.

Raffles Moscow will also feature six restaurants and bars, including an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a bar located on level four, the top level of the hotel. The highest level of the hotel will also house the indoor pool and the tranquil RafflesAmrita Spa, affording guests sweeping views of the city and Kremlin.

Occupying a generous 1,300 square metres, RafflesAmrita Spa at Raffles Moscow will be distinguished as one of the largest spas in Moscow, offering an extensive selection of massage and wellness options. RafflesAmrita Spa is a signature component of Raffles hotels and resorts around the world and the spa at Raffles Canouan Island in The Grenadines has been named by The Robb Report as 'Best of the Best Spas'.

Mr. Vladimir M. Pereverzev, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ALT Corporation, said, 'We are extremely pleased to be bringing the Raffles brand to Russia. Raffles offers exceptional lifestyle experiences and represents the highest standards of hospitality and service. We are confident that Raffles Moscow will be distinguished by these attributes to become the premier address in one of the great capital cities in the world.'

Diana Ee-Tan, President, Raffles Hotels & Resorts commented, 'With its historically significant architectural works, monuments, museums and a vibrant performing arts scene, Moscow is a facsinating destination with great appeal to world travellers. In terms of tourism growth, the city enjoyed a robust growth of 7.5% in international tourist arrivals last year and a phenomenal growth of 16% in revenue per available room. We are delighted that ALT Corporation has entrusted Raffles with the management of their new hotel in this superb location.'
