GREENBELT, MD, July 8, 2008. The Greenbelt Marriott Hotel announced today that they have been honored with the prestigious "Hotel of the Year" award for 2007 by Marriott International for outstanding results in "overall guest satisfaction," "overall associates' satisfaction," "most improved market share," and "owner relations excellence." The hotel was selected from more than 3,000 hotels worldwide, representing: JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, TownePlace Suites and Fairfield Inn.

"This award is the highest honor and the competition is fierce as we compete against other Marriott hotels across the United States and 66 other countries and territories," said Area General Manager Robert Allen. "Every associate at this hotel helped us to win this award because they understand that we set the bar high and every one of them rose to the occasion and not only met but exceeded our goals."

The hotel employs more than 250 full and part-time associates, many who have been with the hotel for decades. Leading the quest for excellence is Margarita Perez, who exemplifies the quality of associates at the Greenbelt Marriott. She has won numerous awards from both inside and outside the Marriott Corporation this year, including the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association Guest Services Agent of the Year, the American Hotel & Lodging Association Lodging Employee of the Year and the J. Willard Marriott Award of Excellence from Marriott International. Ms. Perez was recognized at a special international ceremony in June hosted by Bill Marriott for her outstanding contributions and customer service.

"Prince George's County is thrilled to have the leading lodging chain in the world recognize the Greenbelt Marriott as their star of stars," said J. Matthew Neitzey, executive director of the Prince Georges County, Maryland Conference & Visitors Bureau. "This award is a testament to management excellence. The Greenbelt Marriott has responded to a booming local economy with superior service and a focus on providing positive visitor experiences for all their guests. We couldn't be more proud," said Neitzey.

The Greenbelt Marriott Hotel boasts over 10,000 square feet of total meeting space, 288 guest rooms, including four suites. Marriott has earned the prestigious Energy Star label from the Environmental Protection Agency for its commitment to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency.
