. May 28, 2013

May 28, 2013 - On Thursday, May 23rd, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie joined Margaritaville and Resorts principals on the Boardwalk for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill at Resorts Casino Hotel. The official opening date of the project is Friday, May 24th when the entire Margaritaville complex will be fully open.

“Last July, I stood here to announce the start of the Margaritaville project. Less than a year later, I'm extraordinarily pleased to be back for its grand opening and ribbon-cutting,” said Governor Christie. “With all eyes on the Jersey Shore this summer, the new Margaritaville entertainment complex at Resorts is one of the most promising examples of optimism for New Jersey and for Atlantic City. The arrival of this high-profile national brand offers a superb destination for visitors and local residents alike, and is more evidence that the Shore is open for business and stronger than ever this summer.”

The ceremony featured Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan, Resorts Casino Hotel owner Morris Bailey, and Mohegan Gaming Advisors CEO Mitchell Etess. The group presented Governor Christie with a pair of bronzed Margaritaville Flip Flops celebrating the opening and the start of summer on the shore.

The new addition to Resorts features a Margaritaville restaurant, LandShark Bar & Grill, Margaritaville themed casino, Five O'clock Somewhere bar, retail store, and coffee shop. Inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of Jimmy Buffett, Margaritaville transports guests to the island destination of their memories or dreams.

The Margaritaville Restaurant features a stage for nightly live entertainment, a tiki bar and Buffett-inspired accent pieces throughout including a giant blender at the restaurant's entrance. A seasonal exterior deck on the Boardwalk allows guests to enjoy alfresco dining or a drink topped off with a gentle ocean breeze.

LandShark Bar & Grill brings its guests to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and is the only year-round full-service bar and restaurant on the sand side of the Boardwalk. Inspired by the great “beach joints” that once dotted the Atlantic Coast, LandShark Bar & Grill features retractable walls, stunning ocean views and a collection of surfing artifacts to honor the great Atlantic City surfing tradition.

The Margaritaville Casino space includes a 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar with eye-catching flair bartenders and cool concoctions, Margaritaville's first coffee shop, and a gaming area with 12 Margaritaville-themed table games and 160 slot machines.

"We're thrilled to finally be here in Atlantic City, where the Margaritaville experience - great food and drinks, live entertainment, gaming and year-round beachside fun - is another reason for locals and tourists alike to come for a visit,” said Tamara Baldanza, Director of New Business, Margaritaville. "Summer should feel a whole lot cooler and winter a little bit warmer with Margaritaville on the Boardwalk."

"Resorts Casino Hotel is an Atlantic City icon with a rich history and great future. Margaritaville is a perfect example of that future. With its trademark beach vibe, it broadens our casino hotel's appeal and gives travelers a new reason to visit Atlantic City,” said Resorts' owner Morris Bailey.
