. October 14, 2008

SONOMA COUNTY, CA, March 22, 2007. California's famed Sonoma Wine Country began regularly scheduled direct air service from Los Angeles and Seattle today on Horizon Air.

The 90-minute flights from Los Angeles, America's second largest city and a major hub for international flights, are scheduled to arrive twice daily in Santa Rosa at Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport (STS). Arrival times are 10:10 am and 8:30 pm. Introductory fares are as low as $69 one-way with a 14-day advance purchase.

The two-hour and 15-minute flight from Seattle, also a major international air hub, arrives at 3:50 pm, leaving travelers time to enjoy wine tasting and world-famous Sonoma Wine Country cuisine on their first day of arrival. Introductory fares are as low as $109 one-way with a 14-day advance purchase.

Horizon Air has announced an exemption on the checked-baggage limit for visitors flying out of Charles M. Schulz - Sonoma County Airport.

The new exemption will allow fliers to bring home a case of up to 12 bottles of wine per passenger at no extra charge on flights departing Sonoma County. The wine must be packaged to courier standards for shipment.

In addition to the baggage exemption, Horizon Air will be including a microbrew and wines from Sonoma County in its inflight service system-wide through April.

In March, Horizon is serving a 2005 Sauvignon Blanc or a 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon from Canyon Road Winery of Geyserville, CA (the featured wine varies from flight to flight). Canyon Road owns 140 acres of vineyards, with the majority of the grapes for its wines sourced from coastal appellations and selected Northern California vineyards.

In April, Horizon will serve a 2005 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc or 2002 Yulupa Shiraz from Kenwood Vineyards of Kenwood, Calif., a winery that traces its roots back to the former Pagani Brothers Winery, originally established in 1906.

Also in April, Horizon will serve Racer 5 India Pale Ale from Bear Republic Brewing Company, a family-run business that brews award-winning lagers and ales from its brewpub in historic downtown Healdsburg, CA.

Horizon serves wines and microbrews at no extra charge as part of its regular inflight service to passengers 21 years or older on all of its flights systemwide.
