Kimpton's Palomar San Diego Unveils Exclusive Skyline Collection

. May 18, 2015

SAN DIEGO, CA. May 18, 2015. Kimpton's Hotel Palomar San Diego today unveiled its 50-room surf-inspired Skyline Collection, located on floors 16 through 20. The new guestrooms, suites and penthouses were constructed to create additional opportunities for guests to experience Palomar San Diego and enhance the guest journey. In conjunction with the rooms, the hotel launched new daily programming at its famed SummerSalt Pool and Lounge, and created an adrenaline-filled adventure package, Take Flight.

Designed by Theresa Fatino Design, the 30 guestrooms, 12 studios, six suites and two penthouses blend urban sophistication with coastal aesthetics. California-style fixtures and furnishings include surfboard-themed headboards, surf art, marine-colored tie-dye fabrics and sconces resembling motorcycle taillights. Stunning views of the San Diego Bay, Coronado Island, and Gaslamp District complement the modern design and further elevate the guest experience.

Additionally, the hotel's popular rooftop and lounge, SummerSalt, launched new programming this month. Poolside brunches, accompanied by live entertainment, will be held Saturdays and Sundays and will feature house DJ's and a famed San Diego rock & soul blues band, Lady Dottie and the Diamonds. Other weekly events will include industry days geared towards local hotel and restaurant professionals, outdoor game tournaments (corn hole, anyone?), and of course, happy hour specials.

“Our hotel has always been in the best location—in the heart of downtown San Diego—offering guests an authentic urban experience,” said Jim Hollister, general manager of Palomar San Diego. “Now, in addition to the proximity to the best shopping, dining and entertainment venues, our guests will have a quintessential San Diego experience unlike any other in one of our new Skyline Collection guestrooms.”

In conjunction with the launch, the hotel is now offering an adrenaline-filled adventure package, Take Flight, available for booking from May 1, 2015 through Dec. 30, 2015. The package includes deluxe accommodations, one pass for tandem skydive at Skydive San Diego, a 20 percent discount at Nature's Spa by Jurlique, a flight of beer from San Diego's microbreweries and a custom skateboard deck, featuring artwork from Grant Pecoff, an acclaimed San Diego artist. Rates start at $399 per night and can be booked online www.hotelpalomar-sandiego.com, rate code PFLY or by calling (888) 288-6601.

Additionally, Hotel Palomar San Diego recently launched an Instagram campaign via @PalomarSanDiego, encouraging guests to share ways they elevate their journeys. Whether it's enhancing one's sense of adventure or well-being, participants can share images with hashtag #elevateyourjourneycontest. The prize for the winning image, valued at $5,000, includes a two-night stay in the Skyline Penthouse, $200 credit to Nature's Spa by Jurlique, dinner for two at Saltbox, and two passes for skydiving or stand-up paddleboarding.
