During a delightful and well-planned afternoon, the wedding ceremony programme features traditional Lanna practices and begins at 2 p.m. with make-up, hair styling and dress for the bridal couple, before the bride is taken by horse and carriage to the ceremony area. The groom's procession then starts and the couple's families enter traditional and lively "negotiations", followed by the master's blessing, and then a wrist-binding ceremony that involves the tying of sacred strings and offers of blessing by the couple's guardians, families and friends.
