SILVER SPRING, MD, January 16, 2007. Worldwide lodging franchisor Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH) is proud to announce that Franchise Sales Director and San Diego resident Jay Dee Cutting was recently named among the "Wall of Fame 'Class of Developers'" by The School of Hospitality Business Alumni Association at Michigan State University, his alma mater, at its 2007 Celebration of Leadership. The event took place at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, and honored the less than one percent of The School's graduates that are inducted into the prestigious Wall of Fame.

"I am extremely grateful to have received this distinguished award," said Cutting. "My passion for the hospitality industry is as strong today as the day I graduated from this prestigious college, and I am truly honored to have received this recognition."

Honored for many achievements during his 40-year hospitality career, Cutting was recognized as a top developer who has built and managed numerous hospitality businesses from non-commercial food management, restaurant and food and beverage management, and private club management to full- and limited-service hotel management and hotel franchise development. In 2005, Cutting's first year with Choice, he received its "Rookie of the Year" honors and has since earned additional awards for exceeding sales goals.

"Jay Dee is the kind of person who doesn't boast about the extent of his influence in the industry," said School Director and Professor Dr. Ron Cichy. "He has certainly created an admirable legacy."

But Cutting claims the best reward comes from helping students and colleagues throughout the lodging industry to get a start on realizing their dreams. Cutting mentors School students through the Spartan Sponsors Mentor program and returns to campus every year during Homecoming to meet with The School's students.

In his role at Choice Hotels, Cutting works to achieve and exceed a development growth plan for the Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brands in the Southern California, Southern Nevada and Arizona regions. His current duties include building relationships in the finance, construction, hotel development, and other related communities to increase sales, providing his market area with analytical data, linking franchisees to financial programs and site selection, and partnering with Choice Hotels' franchise services to upgrade/replace underperforming properties.
