Kimpton's Hotel Solamar Announces Maxfield Parrish Package
Partners with San Diego Museum of Art
SAN DIEGO, August 22, 2005. Downtown's newest boutique hotel, Kimpton's Hotel Solamar, where "Art Lies Within," has announced its partnership with the San Diego Museum of Art (SDMA). Hotel Solamar is offering a special exhibit package to celebrate the collaboration.
The package gives art lovers 15% off its current best room rate and two VIP tickets to the Maxfield Parrish exhibition at the SDMA.
Now through September 11 more than 80 pieces of Parrish's whimsical, allegorical art from the Victorian era through the 1950s is on exhibition. Parrish's uniquely blended style of bold colored illustration and fine art, and innovative printing techniques made him a household name in the 1920's. His "Daybreak" was the first painting to become a mass produced poster, quickly appearing in thousands of homes around the country. The exhibit also features a mural commissioned by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney.
Hotel Solamar is a short drive away from the SDMA in nearby Balboa Park and a block from the San Diego Padres' new home, PETCO Park.
Each of Hotel Solamar's striking 235 guestrooms feature tan wall coverings resembling stitched leather panels and dark mahogany furniture, oversized work spaces, flat screen TVs, striking polka dot throws on the beds and windows that open to let in the bay air.
