Grand View Lodge Named #6 Top Resort Hotel in the Midwest on the Coveted "World's Best Awards 2020" by Travel + Leisure Magazine

USA, Nisswa, Minnesota. July 09, 2020

Grand View Lodge, Spa and Golf Resort is recognized today as one of the top resorts globally in the annual "World's Best Awards 2020" by Travel + Leisure magazine.

The resort ranked #6 in "The Top 10 Resort Hotels in the Midwest" with an overall score of 86.46. Grand View Lodge is the only Minnesota property to make this esteemed list. This recognition marks the resort's debut on the industry awards list, which celebrates the world's best hotels, resorts, destinations, airlines, cruise lines, and more.

To determine winners of this highly coveted industry accolade, Travel + Leisure readers rated hotels on the following characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, food and value.

While Grand View Lodge is a historic property, having served guests for more than 100 years, 2019 marked a new era when the iconic resort debuted a 60-room boutique hotel, North, as part of a $50M expansion that also included NorthPark, a new indoor-outdoor rec center, an intimate chapel, several new real estate developments, and more.

"To be recognized by the discerning readers of Travel + Leisure on the heels of debuting North and other significant property enhancements means so much to us," said Mark Ronnei, general manager of Grand View Lodge. "We're committed to continuing to evolve this beloved resort while paying homage to our history and roots in the Brainerd Lakes area. We also owe extreme gratitude to our dedicated staff who work year-round to provide the best experience possible for our valued guests."

The World's Best Awards will be published in the August 2020 issue of Travel + Leisure. The full list is published exclusively online at

Eco-Friendly Practices: Now More Than Ever

One theory about the pandemic states that future viruses are more likely to originate and flourish due to global warming. If true, the urgency to accelerate the adoption of eco-friendly practices is greater than ever. Of course, there are many other reasons to create a sustainable operation, including reduced utility costs, savings on operational costs, healthier and happier guests and employees, and positive publicity, marketing and community goodwill. Many hotels are introducing innovative programs into their operations - from recycling bins in guest rooms to starting a roof top garden. Other hotels are using eco-friendly cleaning products, reusing towels and sheets, sourcing locally grown food, supporting the use of electric vehicles, and permitting guests to refill their reusable water bottles with clean, filtered water. Finally, some hotels are encouraging guests to get involved by making it possible for them to participate in local community clean-up projects. The May issue of the Hotel Business Review will document what some hotels are doing to integrate sustainable practices into their operations and how they are benefiting from them.
