Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Welcomes New Executive Chef John Marchetti

USA, Phoenix, Arizona. March 01, 2024

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, Arizona's largest hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of John Marchetti as the new executive chef who began his culinary career at the hotel. In this role, Chef Marchetti will collaborate with Chef Angela Dykstra who oversees daily operations and menu development at the hotel's signature restaurant, Carcara, featuring a Sonoran-inspired menu, and curated catering offerings for the 110,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space. He also is responsible for &More by Sheraton, an all day and night concept in the hotel lobby, and the rooftop Breeze Bar located next to the pool.

"We are thrilled to welcome Chef John Marchetti back to Sheraton Phoenix Downtown where his exceptional culinary expertise and profound understanding of the local palate will undoubtedly enhance our culinary offerings," said General Manager Richard Romane. "Chef John is well versed in Phoenix's culinary scene and will highlight the destination through locally-sourced ingredients to commemorate the rich traditions, heritage, and history of the Southwest."

With more than two decades of culinary experience, Chef Marchetti embarked on his culinary journey at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College in Philadelphia. There, he earned a degree in Culinary Arts and honed his skills in diverse local restaurants before relocating to Phoenix in 2008 where he was a member of the opening team at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. During his time at the property, Chef Marchetti undertook various roles, including senior banquet chef and chef de cuisine at the hotel's signature restaurant (formerly District American Kitchen & Wine Bar). He played an integral role in culinary operations and spearheaded menu development for the restaurant along with the hotel's multiple dining outlets. Most previously, Chef Marchetti was the executive chef of Renaissance Phoenix Downtown.

Since opening in 2022, Carcara at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown has established itself as a culinary standout in downtown Phoenix's bustling restaurant scene. The signature restaurant's Sonoran-inspired menu is influenced by the rich traditions of the Southwest and five C's of Arizona (copper, cattle, cotton, citrus, and climate), which are celebrated in the dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and spirits. Featuring lush greenery and warm tones throughout, Carcara boasts a central bar, four private dining rooms, and an outdoor lounge style patio lined with Cara Cara orange trees, the inspiration and namesake for the restaurant.
