Sheraton Waikiki Using Carnus Forecaster's AI Technology

. October 14, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 10, 2008. In search of a highly accurate and automated solution to address the industry-wide challenge of predicting volatile F&B demand patterns, the 1,800-room Sheraton Waikiki recently implemented the Carnus Forecaster across the property's F&B outlets. As promised, the Carnus' artificial intelligence quickly "learned" the operating environment and is automatically providing a consistent staffing accuracy of over 90%.

Victoria Peters, Director of Six Sigma Black Belt at Sheraton Waikiki and Royal Hawaiian Hotel said, "We are impressed with the automation and accuracy of the Carnus Forecaster which is producing 90+% staffing accuracy for us. The system continues to improve over time as it "learns" our operating environment using its artificial intelligence technology."

Having just completed a massive $55M renovation in 2007, which included revamping all F&B outlets, the brand and its ownership have been constantly focused on new ways to maximize the return on their recent investment. "We turned to the Carnus Forecaster to help us solve the age-old challenge of accurately forecasting demand in a highly volatile F&B setting. Carnus' automated forecasting solution frees up valuable manager time each week and enables us to maximize labor productivity across our F&B outlets," said Michael Doyle, Executive Vice President of Asset Management at Capital Hotel Management (CHM), the largest independent hotel asset and investment management company in U.S.

Up until now forecasting & scheduling restaurants has been widely accepted by the industry as a weekly "crap-shoot". Carnus forecasting & staffing technology can significantly reduce regular and overtime labor using the most cutting edge artificial intelligence technology the industry has ever seen. This NASA technology is coupled with Carnus' automated labor scheduling feature which makes accurate forecasting and scheduling a 2 click-of-the-mouse process, thus eliminating a traditionally manual task that is often highly inaccurate and takes many hours per week of valuable management time to accomplish.

According to Vicky Bradshaw, CEO of Carnus Systems, Inc., "Labor is by far the largest expense in the hospitality industry. Therefore, a highly-accurate forecasting and staffing system can be a hotel's biggest asset towards achieving the brand and ownership's aggressive profit expectations. We have designed the most advanced yet affordable solution to meet this industry-wide need."

Carnus Systems will be showcased at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exhibition & Conference (HITEC) June 16-19 in Booth 1939 at the Austin Convention Center in Texas.
