Preferred Hotels & Resorts Continues to Celebrate Independent Hospitality
By Michelle Woodley President, Preferred Hotels & Resorts | August 11, 2019
Preferred Hotels & Resorts is approaching the second half of 2019 with immense energy and momentum after an incredibly successful start to the milestone year, which marks 15 years of ownership by the Ueberroth Family. In the first six months of the year, Preferred expanded its global portfolio by 45 hotels; introduced the newest innovation in loyalty with the debut of I Prefer Alliance; launched the world's first-ever International Pineapple Week; and rolled out a new brand promise and company ideology. Fueled by a continuous dedication to champion the independent hotel experience, Preferred has no intention of slowing down.
Under the direction and ownership of the Ueberroth family, with each family member playing an active role in the brand's success, over the past 15 years, Preferred Hotels & Resorts has grown from 8 offices, 80 associates, and 300 hotels to become the world's largest independent hotel brand with 35 offices, more than 320 associates, and more than 750 hotels, resorts, and residences across 85 countries. Looking ahead, our team has a robust development pipeline in place with a goal to strategically enhance our portfolio.
Our brand strategy, which is driven by one master brand comprised of five experience-focused collections, allows us to analyze each market separately to determine the best avenue for growth. We look at which collections under the Preferred brand would make the most sense for those respective markets, while also addressing the home vacation rental trend with Preferred Residences.
