Intercontinental Hong Kong Announces New "ihealth" Program
MARCH 6, 2006. InterContinental Hong Kong announces the launch of ihealth, an innovative preventative health menu to help guests actively maintain their health while on-the-go. Partnering with Hong Kong Adventist Hospital for nutritional guidance, InterContinental Hong Kong's Executive Chef Laurent Andre has developed a delicious health-centered menu with more than 40 dishes designed to address the top worldwide health concerns - diabetes, cardiac disease, hypertension, and the need for antioxidants.
The five-star selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner include options such as: Beetroot Carpaccio, Seared Tuna Kabobs, Whole Wheat Pizza with Salmon and Leeks, an Omega-3 Bento Box, Energized Risotto and Buckwheat Penne. Dessert selections include Low-Sugar Chocolate Fondant and a Tofu-and-Soy-Milk Cheesecake.
The `a la carte ihealth menu is available at Harbourside, the hotel's all-day restaurant and also available through 24 hour in-room dining. In addition, ihealth dishes are showcased at Harbourside's popular breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, and served at the newly renovated Pool Terrace.
On the launch of the ihealth menu, Executive Assistant Manager Claus Pedersen remarks "InterContinental Hong Kong has gained a reputation as one of the city's innovators - we are known as a destination for exceptional dining. With the launch of ihealth, we're delighted to offer our guests enticing and innovative nutritional alternatives for both Asian and Western dishes which taste delicious and are also visually appealing."
Executive Chef Laurent Andre worked with world famous chef Alain Ducasse for fifteen years prior to opening the hotel's SPOON by Alain Ducasse in 2003. As the hotel's Executive Chef, Laurent has drawn from his expertise, along with his experienced team of local and international chefs to create this exciting new menu. With the association of trained dieticians at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital approving, we are confident that this new ihealth menu will delight both our local and overseas guests."
Alan Siu of the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Lifestyle Management Center says "We are delighted to partner with InterContinental Hong Kong on the development of the ihealth menu. As an advocate of preventive health care, I feel that initiatives such as this play a vital service to both the local community and the city's overseas visitors by building awareness of the importance of healthy eating as a lifestyle choice. In the hectic urban environment in which we live, it is vital to take preventive measures to stay healthy and also to control existing medical problems by maintaining a healthy diet."
