JW Marriott Hotel New Orleans Reopens

WASHINGTON, DC, October 3, 2005. Marriott International, Inc. today took a major step in the effort to rebuild and restore New Orleans when it raised the American flag on the JW Marriott Hotel New Orleans, Marriott's first property to reopen in downtown New Orleans. Marriott chairman and CEO, J.W. Marriott, Jr., along with Stephen Perry, president and CEO, New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and 400 Marriott employees were on hand to mark the reopening of the 494 room hotel. Essential to the recovery effort in New Orleans, hotels in the area are housing thousands of relief and reconstruction related personnel.

"I am extremely proud of our associates and the hundreds of people dedicated to working around the clock to get all our hotels back up and running and accommodating guests," said Mr. Marriott. "I'm glad to report that the JW Marriott Hotel New Orleans has reopened to take care of the hundreds of relief workers necessary to the rebuilding of this great city. When the time is right, we look forward to welcoming the many tourists who love to travel to New Orleans."

Marriott is one of the largest hotel operators in the New Orleans area. Currently seven of the company's 15 hotels in the area are open and accommodating relief and reconstruction-related personnel. In addition, Marriott is working closely with the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and other appropriate authorities to bring tourism back to New Orleans.
