Spring Opening For Le Meridien's Second Hotel In Malta
MALTA, October 5, 2005. Global hotel group Le M'eridien Hotels & Resorts has confirmed that its second hotel on Malta, Le M'eridien St Julians, will open on March 1, 2006.
Located on the waterfront in the grounds of a 19th century Maltese Villa, in the picturesque Balluta Bay area of St Julians. The five-star 276-bedroom Le M'eridien St Julians is only eight kilometres from the historical capital Valletta, and 12 kilometres from Malta's international airport.
Le M'eridien St Julians' signature restaurant will be the fashionable Villa Brasserie. Located in the newly renovated 19th Century Villa Cassar Torreggiani. It will offer contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, created by Michelin-star French chef, Michel Rostang. In addition the hotel will also offer a range of healthy and tempting dining options throughout its five indoor and outdoor restaurants and bars.
The Conference Centre (1,600 square metres) will offer 14 meeting rooms on one level, including a fixed seat amphitheatre and a dedicated business centre. The large landscaped terrace will offer an ideal alternative for outside events. Three floors of Executive bedrooms will complement the conference centre.
To relax body and soul, the Lotus Spa & Health, one of the largest on the island, will offer an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna, male and female hammam steam rooms, gymnasium, squash court and beauty treatment rooms. These leisure facilities will be complemented by the rooftop swimming pool and sundeck with panoramic views over the island's coastline.
According to general manager, Ben Sington: "The hotel has a sublime blend of contemporary design that reflects the distinctive architecture of the surrounding area." Bedrooms will feature a balcony or terrace, with stunning sea or country views.
Le M'eridien St Julians will join the landmark Le M'eridien Phoenicia, located just outside Malta's ancient city of Valletta. The addition of the new hotel in spring 2006 will bring Le M'eridien's total number of rooms in Malta to 412.
