Orlando/Orange County CVB Promotes Three to New Positions

ORLANDO, FL, October 3, 2008. Danielle Courtenay, APR has been named chief marketing officer (CMO) of the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (Orlando CVB). Courtenay joined the Orlando CVB in February 1995 and recently served as senior vice president of global publicity and public affairs. In this new position, Courtenay develops the long-range strategy and directs the day-to-day integrated marketing plans and objectives for the areas of global public relations, public affairs, domestic and international marketing and promotions. In addition, her responsibilities include issues management, crisis communications and overseeing Web site content development.

Prior to joining the Orlando CVB, Courtenay was vice president of The Zimmerman Agency, an advertising and public relations agency in Tallahassee, Fla., where she was responsible for supervising account teams, account planning and management and assisting in new business acquisition. Courtenay has earned the Accredited Public Relations designation and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Auburn University and Masters of Science degree in Marketing Communication from Florida State University.

David J. Sargent has been named the senior vice president of convention sales and marketing for the Orlando CVB. In this new position, Sargent will utilize his more than 20 years of hospitality experience by providing direction in the creation of strategies and development of comprehensive programs that will integrate convention sales and marketing resources to maximize efficiencies and fulfill the strategic direction and ensure the integrity of the brand. In this role, he will oversee both the convention sales and marketing areas including convention sales and destination meeting services.

Sargent has had a distinguished sales and marketing career in major markets including Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. He was most recently the area director of sales and marketing for the Hiltons of Chicago, where he oversaw a team of more than 50 people at three distinct properties. Prior to that, he served as the director of sales and marketing at The Westin New York at Times Square and Sheraton New York. He has also held progressively higher sales positions with the Chicago Global Sales Office of the Sheraton Corporation, Sheraton Washington Hotel, Sheraton Bal Harbour, Hyatt Regency O'Hare and Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers.

Sargent received a B.A. degree in Broadcast/Journalism and a minor in English from Drake University in Iowa. He has served as president of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association and was awarded the Presidential Award by ITT Sheraton Corporation.

Susan Lomax Greer has been named associate vice president of global publicity. In this new position, Greer will be responsible for developing and implementing publicity strategies for domestic and international markets as well as leading a team of public relations managers and outside agencies.

Greer has more than 15 years of public relations and publicity experience in the hospitality industry with industry leading companies such as: Universal Orlando Resort, Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and Paramount Parks, a Viacom Company. Her work has involved launching new attractions, hotels and restaurants and she has worked with well known brands such as: Emeril Lagasse, Hard Rock Hotel, Orlando, Loews Hotels, Star Trek and MTV. Greer received a B.A. from Miami University.
