We would like to invite you to meet with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) during WTM 2005.

THE JAMAICA TOURIST BOARD STAND IS: CA1120

Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism for Jamaica Tourist Board, who will be visiting from Jamaica, and/or Elizabeth Fox, the JTB's Regional Director for UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, will be available to meet with you during the following times:

Monday, 14 November:

11.00 - 12.00 noon

This time is reserved for individual meetings between the media and senior JTB representatives. If you would be interested in meeting with Paul Pennicook or Elizabeth Fox during this time, please let us know.

12.00 - 1.00pm

The JTB will be hosting a media drop-in on its stand: CA1120). We would like to invite you to visit the stand to meet with various JTB delegates, as well as private sector (hotels, attractions etc. for update on new developments in Jamaica etc.)

Tuesday, 15 November:

2.00 - 4.00pm

The JTB will be hosting an additional media drop-in on its stand: CA1120). We would like to invite you to visit the stand to meet with various JTB delegates, as well as private sector (hotels, attractions etc. for update on new developments in Jamaica etc.)

JTB updates will include the following:

  1. Major increase in room stock in Jamaica over the next three years - predominantly European hotel groups moving in e.g Grupo Pinero, RIU and Iberostar. This is in line with the increased number of visitors from UK and Europe, and these new developments reflect the discerning need of visitors from these markets. Increased airlift exit UK to Jamaica - with launch of Virgin Atlantic service in May 2006 and the companies such as First Choice will be introducing fortnightly flights from Gatwick and Manchester from end of Oct 2005.

  2. JTB will be re-launching the Jamaica Travel Specialist Programme, in partnership with Travel Uni, at WTM with the help of 'Ziggy' Jamaica's new training mascot. The new programme, available online, will show agents Jamaica's highlights. Torrance Lewis of the JTB will be demonstrating the new system at their stand throughout WTM, and particularly to agents on Wise UP! Day.

  3. Cricket World Cup 2007 - Jamaica will play host to the first match of this tournament on Tuesday, 13 March 2007, as well as one of the semi-finals.

  4. Launch of - www.uniquejamaica.com.

  5. Appointment of another sales manager as reinforcing JTB's efforts in this market, Ireland and Northern Europe over the coming year.

  6. Launching a new UK advertising campaign (TV and print) in January 2006
