Spice Island Beach Resort, Grenada, to Launch Nutmeg Pod Children's Program Upon Reopening Dec. 15

. October 14, 2008

GRENADA, November 15, 2005. To enhance its offerings and create a more dynamic vacation experience for families, Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada will introduce the brand new Nutmeg Pod supervised children's program, the only facility of its kind on the island, when the property re-opens on Dec. 15, 2005 following its multi-million dollar rebuilding project.

"The Nutmeg Pod was created with two goals in mind," said Sir Royston O. Hopkin, KCMG, owner/chairman of Spice Island Beach Resort. "One, to allow parents the opportunity to enjoy some quality time together including shopping, sightseeing and relaxing on the beach, and two, to keep children entertained with activities best suited for them. Plus, they can make some new friends along the way," he added.

The Nutmeg Pod, so named in keeping with the resort's "spice" theme, will be open daily from 9 am - 5 pm and cater to children from ages three and up (children must be toilet-trained). There will be a weekly schedule of organized activities to keep kids amused including fun and games on fantastic Grand Anse Beach, electronic and board games for all ages, and other indoor and outdoor pursuits. Healthy snacks will also be served throughout the day.

The resort has commissioned a local artist, Nadine Baksh, to do murals for the interior walls of the Nutmeg Pod. Themed the Enchanted Spice Forest, the murals will tell the story of local indigenous animals such as 'Manny the Manicou' and 'Doris the Grenadian Dove' and the Nutmeg Princess who will watch over the entire forest.

Babysitting services can be arranged, and children's menus and high chairs will be available.

When Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada re-opens on Dec. 15, 2005, it will introduce an unmatched level of accommodations and unprecedented brand of chic style and timeless luxury. Spice Island Beach Resort will feature 64 elegantly-appointed rooms (two less than its previous room count because two new, super-spacious suites being built will each take the place of two former suites), the full-service Janissa's Spa, a fitness center, an open-air, beachside gourmet restaurant, the Sea & Surf Bar for refreshing cocktails throughout the day, a central swimming pool and jacuzzi, a tennis court, the Nutmeg Pod children's activity center, the Gatsby Boutique and more.
