. October 14, 2008

MIAMI, FL, June 14, 2005. The Hilton Family of Brands was conspicuously well-represented at the recent Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association's 11th Annual Inn Key Award Luncheon, held at the former Fontainebleau Hilton Resort on May 10, 2005. The "family members" who attended included staff from the following Miami hotels: the Hilton Miami Airport, the Doubletree Grand Biscayne Bay, the Doubletree Coconut Grove, the Doubletree Surfcomber Miami Beach, the Embassy Suites Miami Airport, and the Conrad Miami. Each of these properties submitted the names and stories of their hardworking team members for such categories as "Roomkeeper of the Year", "Bellperson of the Year", and "Front Office Employee of the Year," as well as for the coveted title of "Lodging Employee of the Year." Proudly walking away with the crowns amongst the "family" were:

  • George Lightbourne, Doubletree Grand Biscayne Bay, "Security Officer of the Year", (hotels of fewer than 200 rooms)

  • Carmen Puglielli, Conrad Miami, "Roomkeeper of the Year", (hotels of fewer than 200 rooms)

  • Erns Robillard, Embassy Suites Miami Airport, "Security Officer of the Year", (hotels of more than 200 rooms)

Individual hotel properties were also recognized for their achievements in specific categories, such as the Doubletree Surfcomber, which was respectfully honored with the "2005 Hotel Achievement Award for Community Service." Farooq Rehmatwala, Area Vice President Hilton & Doubletree Operations, Southeast, and General Manager-Hilton Miami Airport, was elated over the Hilton Family of Brands obvious presence at the annual awards ceremony that showcases the remarkable efforts of the Hospitality industry's finest employees. Being personally acquainted with so many of the Hilton, Doubletree, Conrad, and Embassy Suites nominees and winners, he was doubly proud, exclaiming: "I have always known that the true formula for success in Hospitality comes from having real pride and real planning in the hearts and minds of our hotel's employees. Those individuals recognized today have that, and they deserve to be celebrated as Heroes of the Hotel. I'm just happy to say that they're part of the Family!"

In recognition of these hotel's significant achievements at the Awards, Mr. Rehmatwala held an Inn Key Winner and Nominee "Family Reunion" at the Hilton Miami Airport on May 25, 2005, where the attendees, both Inn Key winners and nominees, were treated to a sumptuous meal specially prepared in their honor. All who attended considered the luncheon a wonderful treat, as well as a rare opportunity to connect with "sister" properties that exemplify the "family" motto of Excellence in Hospitality.

Team members from the Doubletree Surfcomber also attended the luncheon at the Hilton Miami Airport. As well as receiving the Inn Key Achievement Award for Community Service, this Hilton "family" hotel was also recently honored with a plaque commemorating their dedicated support from the Fienberg Fisher Elementary in Miami, Fl. Students of the elementary school were happy to give this recognition to the Doubletree Surfcomber staff, who has been near untiring in their year-round heartfelt contributions to the school, which included donating numerous "Suite Dreams" beds to the children's families, planting trees with the students around the entire school, and delivering Thanksgiving dinners, complete with all the trimmings, to many of the elementary school's deserving homes.

The Surfcomber's partnership with the Fienberg Fisher Elementary is just one of the many examples of this Hilton Family of Brands hotel's contributions to the city of Miami. As a special invitee of the "family reunion", the Surfcomber staff was applauded for their generosity to the community, and was given unique praise by Mr. Rehmatwala, who oversees this hotel in his region: "I am proud that our efforts as an organization are not limited to simply treating our guests as our first priority. The health of our communities is also a first priority, and winning this award proves that we have been successful in our campaign to serve both our guests and our surrounding communities as we should!"
