Mixed November for U.S. Travel Industry

November statistics show a mixed month for the U.S. travel industry.

NEW YORK, NY, January 10, 2006. According to the Travel Industry Association of America's (TIA) Industry Performance Indicators (IPI), the month of November 2005 revealed an increase in domestic air RPMs by 1.6 percent from November 2004. While international air RPMs increased 4.3 percent from twelve months earlier. Airline employment fell 3.9 percent against November 2004.

Hotel/motel room revenue jumped 14.3 percent from one year ago; lodging jobs increased 0.5 percent during the same period. Gasoline station receipts declined 5.9 percent from October 2005; however, they were still 16.8 percent higher than a year ago. Recreational visitors to national parks increased 5.4 percent compared with November 2004.
