Special Hotels of the World Announces New Member in Bangkok

MAY 26, 2006. Special Hotels of the World is pleased to announce it has a new member in Bangkok. The Shanghai Inn, Bangkok opened on April 4th 2006 and is the only hotel in old Chinatown that incorporates classic Chinese design with contemporary furnishings.

The hotel offers 51 superior rooms and four suites that are all located on the top two floors of the building, allowing guests to escape the busy streets below. The rooms are all beautifully equipped with four poster beds, contemporary Chinese furniture, cable television, DVD player and rental, wireless internet, mini-bar, electronic safety boxes and endless complimentary tea and coffee.

All the rooms are decorated in vivid rich colours to reflect the atmosphere of Shanghai. Beautifully decorated satin cushions, stained glass windows, dark wood furniture and a large shower room complete with wooden slated flooring and birdcage in the corner, ensure that guests feel they are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Central Bangkok.

The hotel offers a wide array of facilities, including laundry service, room service, tour desk, board game hire, currency exchange, Thai massages and a spa.

The first two floors of the hotel offers a selection of Chinatown's finest restaurants, including Hed Hongtae, which offers a menu dedicated to mushroom dishes, Tokhai Japanese, providing Japanese and Chinese cuisine, Je Ngor, a seafood and Thai-Chinese specialist, Nam by Pasatham, a new coffee house, and Yin Yang, which offers a range of relaxing Thai Massages to accompany a meal.
