Cornell Center for Hospitality Research Announces the 2012 Hospitality Research & Analytics Award
Seeks to recognize Hospitality & Travel Industry Best Practices driven by research and analytics
Ithaca, NY - May 9, 2012 - As part of the upcoming Cornell Hospitality Research Summit (CHRS), the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) at the School of Hotel Administration has opened the competition to Hospitality & Travel business organizations to recognize industry best practices. The 2012 Hospitality Research & Analytics Award, presented by IDeaS, will acknowledge outstanding use of research and analytics by the Hospitality & Travel industry. Winners will be recognized during the CHRS Awards Dinner on October 9, 2012 in Ithaca, New York. Deadline for submissions is July 20, 2012.
"IDeaS is delighted to present the 2012 Hospitality Research & Analytics Award," said Vivek Bhogaraju, senior manager of corporate business development. "Amid today's complex marketplace, it's imperative for our industry to take a scientific, data-driven approach to solving business problems. By recognizing the innovators in our industry, we can showcase strategies and best practices that draw clear connections between research, analytics and measurable business results."
The 2012 Hospitality Research & Analytics Award committee, which is composed of equal numbers of industry practitioners and university researchers, is looking for completed practical applications of research and analytics that have significant quantifiable results on an organization's performance. Specific submission procedures are explained on the CHRS website.
"The key purpose of the CHRS is to promote fact-based research and analytics in the industry, with a goal of creating strategies and techniques to improve industry operations," said Professor Rohit Verma, CHR's executive director. "We greatly appreciate the support of IDeaS helping us meet this goal."
The award winners will have the opportunity to explain their analysis and its outcomes in white papers to be published by the Center of Hospitality Research. A total of four Hospitality & Travel business organizations will be cited, two winners and two honorable mentions.
At the inaugural CHRS, in 2010, four companies were acknowledged for their research into practice ideas. They were Best Western, for a system upgrade, McDonald's USA, for development of its McCafe concept, Vivanta by Taj, for innovating guest services, and Wyndham International, for creating a line of employee uniforms made from recycled fabric.
