The Park Hyatt Toronto Employees Join Forces with The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Initiative for a future without Breast Cancer
Toronto, ON - October 5, 2012 - nspired by the launch of the hotel's new food philosophy Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served, the Park Hyatt Toronto associates have made this culinary journey a way of life. For the month of October they will be launching a wellness campaign: a platform dedicated to being more conscious about making food choices that are good for the palette, ones overall health and the environment. The hotel has taken their approach to wellness a few steps further and partnered with theCanadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Ontario Region (CBCF) which current Reduce Your Risk initiative focuses on prevention. One prevention factor is to “Love Your Body” which bridges the connection between a healthier diet and the role it plays in decreasing ones risk of chronic health issues and diseases including breast cancer.
“At the core of every food and beverage decision that we make at the Park Hyatt Toronto is a belief that every meal we provide is treated with integrity from source to the plate”, says Executive Chef Joan Monfaredi. “Our refined philosophy has sparked a culinary movement whereby guests and associates have become fully engaged in how the quality of food they eat affects the overall function of their bodies”.
Working towards a future without Breast Cancer is near and dear to Chef Monfaredi who will be joining 60 of Canada's top female chefs at Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada's “Eat To The Beat” fundraiser, for the 16th consecutive year. In support of this cause she has designed the Harvest Comfort line available at Stillwater Spa, Roof Lounge and Annona Restaurant, whereby a portion of the proceeds from each purchase will be donated to support those who have been affected by this disease. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from both the Sarah Richardson designed Pink Suite as well as Pink Purchases made at Stillwater Spa will be donated to the CBCF.
“As the General Manager of the Park Hyatt Toronto, I am very proud of my team and their dedication to contributing to a healthy environment and being at their personal best in all areas.” Said Paul Verciglio. From associates who will be joining the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure to our Executive Chef who has led the charge in sourcing everything from naturally raised and antibiotic free Lamb and poultry, Premium 28 Day Aged Beef - all natural and antibiotic free, to nitrate free bacon…the list is endless as to the changes that have been made to refine our menus. Her recent additions, of Gluten Free menu options and the Harvest Comfort line, speaks not only to her talent but also her commitment to creating a healthy environment all around. I am proud to work for a company that invests in the health and future of our guests, associates and planet”.
