InterContinental - The O2 Gears Up For Global Car and Production Launch Events
InterContinental® London - The O2, London's largest new events space opening winter 2015, will bring an all new brand activation and large-scale product launch offering to the capital with its combination of a high-spec 4,500sqm dedicated conference centre and 400sqm of outdoor riverside space.
Positioned to the right of the hotel with uninterrupted views of the river Thames and Canary Wharf, the conference centre has a drop off point and delegate entrance completely separate from the luxury hotel leading straight to The Arora Ballroom, a 7.6m double height 3,100sqm pillar-free space with hi-tech functionality including 88 two-tonne rigging points effectively allowing for 50 cars to be hung from the celling at any one time.
The 80 x 40m ballroom can be divided with fully sound-proofed separation walls and offers dedicated guest lifts, stairs and escalator access to each half - along with a heavy weight vehicle lift on each side capable of holding two articulated lorry loads - in an ideal mirror image, allowing for simultaneous events of up to 1,550+ delegates each to set up, take place, and unload in tandem.
The blank canvas conference centre's Wi-Fi technology allows for more than 5,000 computer or mobile devices to run on hi-speed at once and space for several dozen screens to be installed with show reels, social media feeds and presentations on display to unveil large-scale brand activation and product launches with impressive impact.
Furthermore, the 400m flat outdoor space at the front of the hotel can be utilised to add production showcase elements to live events, visible from across the water in Canary Wharf, or private marquees set up to bolster additional events space.
Hasham Soliman, General Manager at InterContinental® London - The O2, commented, “It's not just the sheer size of our conference centre ballroom that's attracting interest, but the fact that it's completely pillar-free with dedicated heavy-load access and hi-tech functionality that makes this space, along with our supporting function rooms, prove such as popular choice for brands looking to launch new products internationally with ease.”
Soliman continues, “We're in discussions with several manufacturing and production brands, in particular for vehicle and technology launches over the next 1-5 years, that are looking for a new London partner that understands the complexity of product unveils on a massive scale; so we're very excited to be working in this space ahead of opening later this year.”
The 18 storey InterContinental London - The O2 is located on the Greenwich Peninsula - one of London's most exciting new events districts - just 400m from North Greenwich tube and Greenwich Pier for fast access into Central London and Canary Wharf. In addition to its 4,500sqm conference centre, the hotel features 453 guest rooms and suites, a luxury spa with 17m indoor swimming pool and eight treatment rooms, and a myriad of destination restaurants and bars including Clipper Bar, Meridian Lounge with outdoor 40-seat terrace, open-kitchen Market Brasserie, The Peninsula fine dining restaurant and Eighteen Sky Bar, a glamorous rooftop cocktail bar exposing spectacular views of Canary Wharf the city of London and the Thames Barrier.
