Devin Gleason Named Director of Sales and Marketing at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa

USA, Lake Arrowhead, California. November 01, 2018

Devin Gleason, who has spent more than 10 years working in the resort industry, has been named director of sales and marketing at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, a mountain getaway located on the banks of Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino National Forest.

In his new position, he oversees all group, leisure and catering sales, as well as marketing and public relations for the resort - including forging important community partnerships with nearby recreational entities such as SkyPark at Santa's Village and Snow Valley Mountain Resort.

"With his strong track record in the hospitality industry and his enjoyment of the outdoors, Devin is the ideal candidate to take the helm of our sales and marketing team," said Managing Director Geoff Young. "We are confident his skills and experience will be invaluable as we concentrate on positioning Lake Arrowhead Resort as the premiere mountain destination in Southern California."

With expertise in sales, marketing, destination management and meeting planning, Gleason was previously director of sales and marketing for Topnotch Resort, a mountain destination in Stowe, Vermont. Prior to his tenure at Topnotch, he was the director of sales and marketing at Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa - a Four-Diamond mountain property also in Stowe, Vermont. Additionally, he held the positions of associate director of sales and marketing and director of sales at the historic Chatham Bars Inn and Spa, in Chatham, Mass.

A native of Boston, Gleason holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys skiing, surfing and water sports in his off time.

Hotel Law: Forever Evolving

The legal environment of the hotel industry is forever evolving and there is always a myriad of issues for hotels to address. One ongoing challenge for hotels concerns cybersecurity and their legal exposure should a major hack or breach occur. Because hotels offer Wi-Fi services to the public and because they collect and store substantial personal information on their guests, it is imperative for hotels to have advanced security systems in place. In the event of a breach, they must be able to prove they took every reasonable measure to protect the sensitive information of their guests and to comply with all privacy laws. Another legal issue involves the licensing and training of all employees who serve alcohol at any establishment that sells alcoholic beverages and permits customers to drink on site. Though this law is presently confined to California, it is expected to be enacted by other states in the near future. These are just a few of the issues that will be reported on in the December issue of the Hotel Business Review.
