Whitbread Shares Up Due to Possible Bid for Accor
JULY 19, 2007. Shares in Whitbread have jumped in Thursday's stock market trading amid speculation among traders that French hotel group Accor could bid for the UK-based firm.
Both shares of Accor and Whitbread were up in early market activity in London and Paris. Whitbread currently owns budget chain Premier Inns.
Last week, shares in Whitbread also saw a boost after talk that U.S. property investor Starwood Capital would launch an offer for the firm.
The sector got a boost after private equity group Blackstone agreed to buy Hilton Hotels.
