IAHI Canada to Adopt a Villa at Give Kids The World Village
Kissimmee, Florida
MAY 30, 2007. The Canada Committee of IAHI, the Owners' Association of IHG, is sponsoring a villa at Give Kids The World Village (GKTW)- a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Kissimmee, Florida providing complimentary accommodations, donated attraction tickets, and meals for a week-long stay for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. In celebration of this generous contribution, the Committee will host a groundbreaking ceremony on June 20 at 10:00 a.m. at GKTW Village.
Construction is set to begin this year on the villa being sponsored by the IAHI Canada Committee, which will house families visiting from around the world.
"Give Kids The World is a wonderful, unique organization that helps make dreams come true for children with serious illnesses all across the globe. With one of our missions being community service, I couldn't think of a more worthwhile group for IAHI to support," says Glenn Squires, Chairman of the IAHI Canada Committee and president of Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc. in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
GKTW currently has 102 villas for the children and their families, and is expanding to 196 villas over the next few years. The villas are located in Fairy Tale Forest, which is the first phase of this expansion program. These fully-equipped accommodations feature wheelchair accessible showers, whirlpool tubs, and fully-equipped kitchens for its guests. The cost of adopting each villa is $75,000 and $150,000 for an entire building (two villas).
In its 21-year history, GKTW has welcomed more than 75,000 families from all 50 states and over 50 countries. A total of 1,796 families from Canada have stayed at the Village.
"We are thrilled to have IAHI's Canada Committee be a part of our organization, says GKTW President Pamela Landwirth. "The Committee's heartfelt generosity will be appreciated by families visiting the Village for years to come."
