Dubai Boosts Travel Show Presence for 2007

DUBAI, UAE, October 16, 2006. The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has announced its participation in 28 overseas travel trade exhibitions and hosting of 10 road shows in different parts of the world in the year 2007 as part of its aggressive agenda to market Dubai as an ideal year-round business and tourism destination.

Four new exhibitions have been added to this year's calendar of exhibitions while road shows will be held for the first time in Turkey and Korea. The DTCM Director General, Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, said, 'The department is maintaining its aggressive promotional and marketing drive and exploring new markets to attract visitors to Dubai. We are tapping established as well as emerging source markets for Dubai's tourism industry.'

He said the participation in travel trade exhibitions and hosting of road shows in as many as 40 countries across five continents will help highlight Dubai's strengths and opportunities in tourism and other economic segments.

The efforts, he added, will help create better awareness about Dubai as tourism and lifestyle destination popularize its appeal in key foreign markets to attract more tourists to the emirate.

The selection of exhibitions and road shows are based on the strategic plans of the department and crucial marketing inputs provided by the DTCM's network of 15 Overseas Representation (OR) offices.

The new exhibitions featuring on 2007 list are: Travel Turkey 2007 (Istanbul, January 25-28), UITT-2007 (Ukraine, March 28-31), SATTE-2007 (New Delhi, April 19-22) and KITF-2007 (Almaty, April 26-28)

Next year's promotional drive will kick-off with the participation in Ferien-2007 show in Vienna and Reiseliv-2007 in Oslo from January 11 to 14. This will be followed by Matka-2007 in Helsinki from January 18 to 21. Travel Turkey-2007 takes place in Istanbul from January 25-28 while Fespo-2007 will be hosted in Zurich during the same period.

Fitur-2007 will be held in Madrid from January 31 to February 14, while AIME-2007 will be Melbourne from February 13 to 14. The next participation will be at Holiday World-2007 in Prague from February 15 to 18 and BIT-2007 will be in Milan from February 22 to 25.

The ITB-2007 participation will be from March 7 to 11 in Berlin. Seatrade Cruise 2007 will be in Florida from March 12 to 15. From March 21 to 25, Dubai will have a big presence in MITT-2007 in Moscow followed by TUR-2007 in Gothenburg from March 22 to 25.

UITT-2007 in Kiev from March 28 to 31 will see Dubai's participation for the first time. Dubai will be present at the Kuwait International Travel & Tourism Exhibition -2007 will be in Kuwait City from April 8 to 15. Dubai's next major participation will be in IMEX-2007 in Frankfurt from April 17 to 19.

For the first time, Dubai will participate in SATTE-2007 in New Delhi from April 19 to 22. The next first time participation will be in KITF-2007 in Almaty, Kazakhstan from April 26 to 28. Dubai will showcase its best at the ATM-2007 in the host city from May 1 to 4. The emirate will have its presence at the ALTM-2007 in Shanghai from June 18 to 21.

From September 14 to 16, it will participate in JATA-2007 in Tokyo followed by Leisure-2007 in Moscow from September 25-28. IT & ME -2007 will take place in Chicago from September 25 to 27. Top Resa-2007 will be held in Deauville, France from September 27 to 29 followed by TTW-2007 in Montreux, Switzerland, from October 25 and 26.

Dubai will again make its presence felt at the WTM-2007 in London from November 12 to 15. The year will come to a close with the EIBTM-2007 in Barcelona from November 27 to 29 and ILTM-2007 in Cannes, France from December 4 to 6.

The Dubai road shows in Far East will be from May 14 to 23 and covers cities like Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. The Benelux region road shows will be held from May 23 to 25 in Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. The AGCC show roads will take place from May 26 to 31 in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.

The Saudi Arabia road shows will be in Al Khobar, Riyadh and Jeddah from June 2 to 6. The road shows in New Zealand and Australia will be from June 18 to 21 and covers Auckland, Sydney and Adelaide. The workshop in Swiztzerland and Austria will be from September 4 to 6 and takes place in Berne, Zurich and Vienna.

The first-ever Dubai workshop in Korea will be in Seoul on September 13. This will followed by road shows in South Africa from October 2 to 4 and covers cities like Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. The road shows in UK and Ireland cover Dublin, Manchester, Glasgow and London from November 30 to December 6. The year will concluded with Dubai's first road show in Turkey, date of which will be announced later.
