Overland Park Marriott Launches $20 Mil Renovation

. October 14, 2008

APRIL 8, 2008. The Overland Park Marriott, known for its superior service and premier location in the Metcalf Avenue Corridor, announced today a $20 million hotel renovation that will dramatically update the hotel's exterior and create a more comfortable and accessible guest environment.

The renovation, which began last week and will conclude in September, will include all 398 guest rooms and suites, hotel corridors, concierge lounge, and 14,000 sq.-ft of meeting space. The ballroom renovation will begin Aug. 5, 2008.

"We have been preparing for this renovation for several months, and we are extremely excited to get started," said Mark Ravenscraft, area general manager of Marriott Hotels in the Kansas City market. "These updates will dramatically improve the comfort, productivity, and quality of stay for every guest, from business to leisure travelers."

The rooms will debut the Marriott Revive bed and feature 37-inch, high-definition, flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet, and plug-in options for MP3 devices, digital cameras, camcorders or other electronic devices. In addition to the interior, the hotel's exterior will also receive a dramatic facelift. Scaffolding will be erected around the hotel this month and will remain around the hotel until early fall. Renovations will be made floor-by-floor for minimal guest disruption.

"The exterior updates will give the hotel a completely new look and feel, and will greatly contribute to the city's overall revitalization and redevelopment of the Metcalf Avenue Corridor," said Ravenscraft. "We are proud to be a long-time resident of this community, and we are equally excited to contribute to its continued growth and success."

The Overland Park Marriott is owned by Integrated Capital, LLC. The Los Angeles-based, minority-owned hotel group is a shining example of Marriott's Diversity Ownership Initiative, which set a goal in 2005 to have 500 hotels owned, managed or in the pipeline by women and minorities by 2010. Today, Marriott is well on track to meet its goal. For more information on Marriott's Diversity Ownership Initiative, visit www.marriott.com/diversity.
