CTO - Cultivating Caribbean Nationals Into Leaders

ANNUAL CONFERENCE SET FOR OCT. 22-25 ON GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND

. October 14, 2008

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, October 20, 2006. Tapping into the pool of talented Caribbean nationals and providing them with the resources, experience, and knowledge to grow into powerful industry leaders will be the subject of a workshop during the Caribbean Tourism Organization's (CTO) 29th Annual Caribbean Tourism Conference (CTC-29).

Titled "Creating Tomorrow's Leaders Today," the workshop will be held Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 from 2:45pm to 4:00pm. This informative workshop will focus on how to cultivate well-educated, insightful, and creative leaders from within the Caribbean by showing the importance of harnessing the strategies used by current Caribbean leaders who are credited in establishing and nourishing the tourism infrastructure.

"It is imperative we maintain the highest level of quality within the tourism industry, and our most valued resource - our people - are no exception. Our staff must be able to create new strategies to promote the Caribbean as well as to have the ability to bridge these new strategies with older ones. We must learn from those who have been successful in the area in order to further our progress for the future," said Hugh Riley, CTO's director of marketing for the Americas.

Two speakers will headline this workshop: Gregg Anderson, Vice President, South Intrawest, and Rodcliffe Robertson, Regional Group Manager, Sandals. They will discuss the significance of global-based programs in the Caribbean, for management skills and multicultural awareness, as well as the importance of encouraging creativity and innovativeness through educational opportunities.

CTC-29 is taking place Oct. 22-25, 2006 at the Westin and Sheraton Grand Bahama Island Our Lucaya Resort on Grand Bahama Island, in The Bahamas. CTC-29 will provide the opportunity for delegates to participate in the evolution and development of the new "Caribbean" brand, and will also demonstrate how they can benefit from it in ways, which up until now never seemed possible.

The conference will be preceded by meetings of the ministers and commissioners of tourism, the Board of Directors and various CTO committees.

The theme for this year's conference is "Cooperation, Innovation, Rejuvenation: Creating a Brand New Caribbean." Conference details, including how to register, can be found on www.onecaribbean.org.
