Visit Fairfax Helps Get the Most Bank from Your Tank This Summer
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA, May 16, 2008. Visit Fairfax feels the pain of climbing gas prices. To alleviate gas station anguish and to lower the cost of summer travel, Visit Fairfax has created a travel itinerary that allows consumers to experience the best of the Washington region on one tank of gas, and is also working with area hotels on promoting gas card giveaways.
"We want to help travelers get the most bang for their buck," said Dan Mobley, Interim President and CEO of Visit Fairfax. "Our Best of the Washington Region on One Tank of Gas program coupled with some great hotel offers creates a travel itinerary that allows vacationers to enjoy a fabulous summer trip while at the same time, helping them conserve energy and money."
The "Best of the Washington Region on One Tank of Gas" tour gives travelers a map with 15 stops for a travel itinerary that is both enjoyable and cost-efficient. Stops include both natural and commercial destinations, such as the awe-inspiring National Air & Space Museum, picturesque Tarara Winery, the extensive Tysons Corner Shopping Center and the historical Mount Vernon, among other destinations, and all on just one tank of gas.
Enough to fill a week with exciting activity, Visit Fairfax breaks down the tour into three options: one, two, and five-day tours. They also provide printable visitors' guides and directions for each tour, making it even easier for travelers to jump in the car and go. Visit www.fxva.com/summer_promotion for more information.
If vacationers desire a more specialized trip, Visit Fairfax has a few themed itineraries, including an "African American Heritage Tour," which follows a capital-area African American history or "Crossroads of Conflict," a tour through the area's Civil War history. Vacationers can also create their own ideal vacation by clicking the "Magical History Tours" link on the website.
Visit Fairfax has also coordinated with area hotels to create special packages, which include gas card giveaways. Participating hotels include: The Comfort Suites Chantilly in Chantilly, Va., Comfort Inn University Center in Fairfax, Va., Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax, Va., Staybridge Suites Chantilly in Chantilly, Va., Embassy Suites Tysons Corner in McLean, Va., and Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Va.
