Macdonald Rusacks 'Open' for Business

. October 14, 2008

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, July 29, 2005. The Macdonald Rusacks Hotel at St Andrews has hardly had time to breathe out after an incredibly busy and extremely successful 2005 Open, but already bookings for the 2010 Open are being marked on the leader board.

A lot of interest is coming from overseas companies with several big name sports management organisations already making corporate reservations. With arguably the best view of the Old Course, the four star Macdonald Rusacks' premium rooms with their own balconies are being earmarked by the game's leading tour operators and players' agents.

According to Sean Boyce, General Manager at the Macdonald Rusacks, the immediate rush to book for 2010 is an endorsement of the whole event and confirms St Andrews' status as the emotional heart of golf, drawing people back time and time again. He said, "It is a clich'e when it comes to property that the most important thing is 'location, location, location' but the same can easily be said of hotels and the Macdonald Rusacks proved the place to be for this year's Open golf.

"Indeed, at times we were a little too close to the action. Overlooking the first tee and the 18th hole as we do, we are used to seeing the golfing greats up close; however, in this year's competition one competitor actually managed to hit the hotel and bounce back into play. I believe he even made par for the hole.

"St Andrews put on a tremendous show this year and the fact that so many of our guests are booking their accommodation for 2010 is not just an endorsement for Macdonald Rusacks but for the course organisers and the city itself. The Open is a showcase for the whole of St Andrews and the goodwill and hospitality demonstrated brings people back, time and time again."

As one of the most famous hotels in St Andrews, the Macdonald Rusacks is one of the most sought-after destinations for golfers world-wide. The hotel recently announced a winter golf package which includes a guaranteed round on the Old Course, two nights accommodation with bed, breakfast and dinner and a round on one of St Andrews' other tremendous links courses.
