Rezidor Backs UK Value Added Tax Cut
LONDON, November 28, 2008. The Rezidor Hotel Group, operators of Radisson SAS and Park Inn hotels in the UK, is actively participating in supporting the government efforts to restore confidence in the UK economy and backing the cut in Value Added Taxes (VAT).
All UK hotels across both brands are implementing necessary changes in their pricing procedures to reflect the 2.5% VAT reduction announced earlier this week. As such Rezidor will ensure guests who booked services with their hotels at a VAT inclusive price prior to the announced change are compensated accordingly. Guests booking after this date for services to be delivered on or after December 1st will be charged with the new 15% VAT rates.
"We would like our customers to be confident that our hotels are working in-line with the UK government tax reduction initiative, with all our UK hotels actively reviewing their pricing and putting necessary procedures in place", commented Kevin Greenwood, Regional Financial Controller UK for The Rezidor Hotel Group. "Our aim in all this is to reassure our customers that Park Inn and Radisson SAS hotels are supporting government efforts to restore confidence in the economy."
Changes are being made to contracted and non-contracted room rates, for reservations booked prior to November 25th and to be taken from December 1st. For future reservations made after November 25th for stays from December 1st, (for both contracted and non-contracted rates), all prices will be changed to reflect the reduced tax rate from 17.5% to 15%.
Likewise, in relation to restaurant and bar business within the hotels, the government's tax reduction will similarly be passed on to customers from December 1st.
Rezidor currently operates a total of 31 hotels in the UK across the Radisson SAS and Park Inn brands. In addition there are currently a further 18 hotels in the pipeline across the two brands to open in the next two years, including the new-build Park Inn Peterborough which opens on December 1st.
