CHADDS FORD, PA, January 16, 2009 - Discover the wonderful world of art during Winter Weekends for Families at the Brandywine River Museum from January 24 through February 22, 2009.

Children of all ages will enjoy visiting galleries with portraits, pirates and pigs! A Museum Discovery Game encourages families to use their powers of observation to find certain objects represented in the works of art. As part of Winter Weekends, visitors will also receive a free copy of the Family Guide: A Museum Activity Book. The guide contains a treasure of activities for children to use during their museum visits or at home.

Audio tours specially designed for children ages six through twelve are available in the Museum Shop. Parents can listen to the adult version while children listen to a narration prepared especially for them. Audio tour rentals are $3 each or a special two-for-one. The tours feature commentary on over 30 favorite works of art from the museum's collection, including "Bill Bones" from N.C. Wyeth's Treasure Island illustrations, Jamie Wyeth's "Portrait of Pig," and Howard Pyle's "The Nation Makers." Support for the children's audio tours is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

As an exclusive offer during Winter Weekends, visitors may purchase new Brandywine River Museum annual family memberships for 50% off the regular price.
