. October 14, 2008

JAMAICA, October 19, 2005. As Wilma secures herself in the record books as the 12th Hurricane and 21st tropical storm of the 2005 season, Jamaica is blaming the now category five storm for at least one death on island caused by heavy rain.

At approximately 0500 (0900 GMT), the eye of the storm was roughly 170 miles (270km) south-southwest of Grand Cayman. Wilma also poses a threat to Cuba. Those in the know have indicated that Wilma is the most powerful of all storms recorded so far this year. Wilma is centred west-southwest of Jamaica.
