Arden Grove to Manage Hana-Maui and Honua Spa
Newly formed management company lands top Hawaii hotel
HONOLULU, HI, January 23, 2009 - Hotelier Philip Wood's Arden Grove Hospitality is now bringing its expertise to one of Hawaii's favorite resorts, the legendary Hotel Hana-Maui and Honua Spa on the lush and tranquil eastern coast of Maui. Effective January 6, 2009, Passport Resorts LLC is no longer associated with the management or ownership of the hotel and has transitioned operations to Arden Grove Hospitality.
Arden Grove Hospitality is a highly customized hospitality management company, newly incorporated in 2008, specializing in the operation of intimate luxury hotels and resorts positioned in prime and exclusive locations. Its properties will enhance the cultural appreciation of their given locations through concept, design and cuisine, and Arden Grove Hospitality continually seeks the most creative ways to exceed guest expectations on a welcoming and personal level.
Philip Wood, Arden Grove Hospitality's President, will be responsible for the oversight and management of the operations of Hotel Hana-Maui and all of its affiliated businesses, working directly with the existing management team to ensure the enchanting resort's ongoing success. Wood, a native of Coventry, England, received his formal hospitality training in luxury hotels throughout England [London] and France [Paris], and has since been associated - in senior management, partnership, and ownership positions - with such exalted institutions as Four Seasons Hotels, FMI Hospitality Systems, Jack Nicklaus' Golden Bear International, Rosewood Hotels, Orient Express Hotels, Forte's Exclusive Hotels, and, most recently, The Garrett Hotel Group [The Point, Lake Placid Lodge, Inn of the Five Graces].
An active leader in the hotel industry throughout his career, Wood has served on the board of Relais & Ch^ateaux North America; the board of Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide; and a previous trustee of the Hotel Association of New York's pension fund and a member of its Strategic Planning Committee, among other distinctions and memberships.
Hana-Maui, an isolated gem of unsurpassed natural beauty overlooking Maui's stunning Hana Bay, clearly reflects its Hawaiian heritage in its relaxed luxury accommodations. It has been a favored retreat for generations of discriminating travelers. More recently, such exalted industry arbiters as Cond'e Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure have ranked Hana-Maui high on their "Top 25 in Hawaii" lists. AAA has bestowed its Four Diamond Award on Hana-Maui since 2003; Hana-Maui's fine dining restaurant, Ka'uiki, which features ingredients nearly 90 percent sourced from the island's great bounty, was honored with its first Four Diamond Award for 2009.
