CLIA to Honor Bay Landing Hotel, Burlingame with 2005 "Excellence in Lodging & Hospitality" Award
SACRAMENTO, CA, October 19, 2005. CLIA, The California Lodging Industry Association, which represents nearly 1,000 lodging properties throughout California, will honor The Bay Landing Hotel in Burlingame with the 2005 Excellence in Lodging Award in the "Outstanding Lodging Property--Construction and Refurbishment" category. The award will be presented at California Lodging Expo(R) and Conference Gala Dinner, November 8, 2005 at The Westin Santa Clara.
The Bay Landing Hotel-a luxury independent hotel-opened it doors in April 2004 with a realized vision to re-concept an airport hotel and give the traveler a unique experience, unexpected amenities, and breathtaking views. Owner/builder Mike Pietro and his sons, Chuck and Matt (Pietro Construction Company) were inspired by their Italian/European heritage-and trip by Mike Pietro to the Las Vegas Hotel Bellagio. The Pietro family is a second generation Italian-American family who has built their reputation on the distinguished construction of commercial real estate, apartment complexes and hotels that offer impeccable service. Edward Barrack, Mike Peitro's son-in-law, is ensuring the highest level of service at the Bay Landing Hotel as Director of Operations for the Pietro Management Company that manages several hotels and commercial properties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
"It has definitely changed the complexion of the San Francisco hotel airport strip," says John Manderfeld, President of Marin Management, Inc., who nominated the hotel for the award. "Now, this unique hotel has created a whole new buzz for the airport area," he explains.
Each year, CLIA honors an outstanding lodging property for "Excellence In Lodging & Hospitality." The Construction and Refurbishment category recognizes excellence in design, construction, remodelling, refurbishing and upgrading. The judges consider innovation in construction and design, location, theme, technology, and unique character or d'ecor that would make the property successful, appealing, and a hospitality leader.
