Scholarships Offer New Professionals Attendance to HFTPConferences

. February 23, 2009

FEBRUARY 23, 2009 - With budgets tight and spending minimal, it can be hard to find the funding for continuing education, which is essential to surviving difficult economic times. To combat those hurdles, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP(R)) is offering a New to Industry Education Scholarship - one each for the HFTP Club and Hotel Controllers Spring Conference, HITEC 2009 and the HFTP 2009 Annual Convention & Tradeshow.

The selected recipients of these scholarships are eligible to receive a limited travel expense reimbursement and one full conference complimentary registration to attend the specified conference.

All HFTP members that have been in the hospitality industry less than three years and currently work for a hospitality organization, such as lodging, food and beverage, and recreational services are eligible to apply. The application includes two essay questions and requires two letters of recommendation - one from a boss and one from a colleague.

"The New to Industry Education Scholarship is a unique opportunity for those starting their career in the industry to get acquainted with the biggest issues in the industry, which are discussed at HFTP conferences," said Frank Wolfe, CAE, CEO of HFTP. "We want them to start off their career in the right direction - with quality education and networking - so that they can succeed in the industry for years to come."

The application deadline for the first scholarship, Club and Hotel Controllers Conference, is February 27. The HITEC application deadline is May 1 and the Annual Convention & Tradeshow deadline is August 1.
