Sunny Isles Beach Presents "Offshore Powerboat Challenge Weekend"

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL, February 26, 2009 - The City of Sunny Isles Beach -Florida's Riviera, is hosting the second annual "Offshore Powerboat Challenge Weekend," when the Offshore Super Series returns to benefit Take Stock in Children. The weekend of June 11-14, 2009 will see offshore powerboat race teams and fans from all over the United States stream into Sunny Isles Beach to get ready for the action packed weekend. The overwhelming success of last year's event sets the stage for this year to be bigger and better than the inaugural event.
Offshore Events will be hosting the 2009 "Offshore Powerboat Challenge Weekend" with support from The City of Sunny Isles Beach, Offshore Super Series, and the Miami-Dade County Parks Department. At least fifty boats are expected to make this year's Bimini Memorial Ocean Race, which will take place on Friday, June 12th, allowing for a great variety of boats to race "Old School," Bimini and back. Gino Gargiulo will return with his Mercedes MTI Catamaran to defend the record time covering the 106 statue mile course in 1 hour and 44 seconds. Saturday will bring the "ThunderBoat" Poker Run and testing for the Offshore Super Series with the final race on Sunday, June 14th.
