Thomas Cook Raises More Than 1/4 of a Million for Travel Foundation

UNITED KINGDOM, October 24, 2005. Thomas Cook, the leading travel booking company, shows its commitment for sustainable tourism with record-breaking amount raised for environmental charity. Sustainable tourism is on everyone's agenda throughout the travel industry and Thomas Cook leads the way with its record-breaking commitment to the Travel Foundation charity. Thomas Cook is delighted to announce that it has raised more than lb255,000 in the last year, through its optional lb1 donations on bookings and the sale of scratchcards onboard Thomas Cook's airline.

Thomas Cook, one of the founding members of the Travel Foundation, places great emphasis on the responsible and sustainable direction throughout all areas of its business. It also works closely with the Travel Foundation with Thomas Cook's Ian Ailles recently joining them as a trustee.

Thomas Cook's commitment to this important area is not just limited to its fund raising efforts. It has an established Responsible Business Forum, a committee with senior representatives working on initiatives that are implemented across all areas of the business from induction training, right through to its annual supplier awards. This has also included producing the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, which is accessible on .
