Inn by the Sea Supports Habitat for Humanity Fund Raiser

Cuts Rates by 50% in May

. March 18, 2009

CAPE ELIZABETH, ME, March 18, 2009 - The eco-luxury Inn by the Sea will slash rates on their seaside cottages by 50%, Sunday through Thursday, this spring in support of a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, announced General Manager Sara Masterson. "Hospitality for Humanity" is a program sponsored by the Maine Innkeepers Association (MEIA) which raises money to help build homes for deserving families in Maine.

The 'Hospitality for Habitat' program is in its sixth year, and will run from May 1st to May 22nd in 2009. The Four Diamond Inn by the Sea, located on Crescent Beach just ten minutes from Portland, hopes to entice guests to enjoy their two bedroom seaside cottages at half the regular rate, Sunday through Thursday, in exchange for a $35 check written out to Habitat for Humanity.

"It's a wonderful program and offers guests a simple way to give back to the area they love to visit," said Masterson. "Inn by the Sea went through a massive makeover in 2008, and we hope guests will take advantage of the deeply discounted rates to experience the changes and new upscale amenities, and our spacious two bedroom cottages."

The complete renovation at Inn by the Sea added many amenities to Maine's premier beach destination including a full service spa built with a Leeds consultant, cozy fireplace bar and lounge and an ocean view restaurant, Sea Glass, serving delectable local fare fresh from the sea and local farms.

Sponsored by the Maine Innkeepers Association, 'Hospitality for Habitat' was initiated in 2004 and has been successful at raising money to build homes for low income families in Maine. Participating Innkeepers offer discounted rates in exchange for a $35 donation to Habitat for Humanity. Each year the program has raised more than the previous year, and in 2008 contributions to Hospitality for Habitat covered the cost of finishing the interiors of six Habitat homes

The program relates well to the hospitality industry, according to MEIA Executive Director Greg Dugal. "Maine Innkeepers provide great lodging for travelers, while Habitat for Humanity helps provide lodging for low income families," sated Dugal.

Reservations should be made in advance, Sunday through Thursday May 1st through May 22nd 2009. A tax deductible donation check made out to Habitat for Humanity should be given to Inn by the Sea on check in. (One donation check for the length of stay.) Every dollar raised will be donated to help build habitat homes.
