The Mannheimer Hof Re-Opens as Part of Leonardo Limited Edition Brand Following Extensive Renovation
A traditional hotel boasts a fresh look. The reopened Mannheimer Hof has taken on a new appearance as part of the Leonardo Limited Edition brand. The hotel now exudes a timeless elegance reminiscent of the golden age of the 1920s following complex renovations which have taken account of the listed status of the building in central Mannheim in which it is housed.
More than a mere overnight stay
As part of the programme of works, the hotel's 192 rooms, suites and bathrooms have been completely updated and redecorated in tasteful shades of gold, blue and nougat-brown. The impressive design of its spacious lobby harks back to the glamour of the 20s. The Twist à la carte restaurant serves up creative Asian fusion cuisine, whilst a tempting range of cocktails and signature drinks is available in the stylish Joy Bar. The Patio, the hotel's idyllic inner courtyard, provides a peaceful summer oasis. An enlarged sauna area and modern gym facilities offer plenty of opportunities for relaxation and intensive workouts. The "Schatzkistl", a cabaret and variety theatre located in the hotel's cellar, is a particular stand-out feature. The Mannheimer Hof thus offers far more than just overnight accommodation. It delivers a truly special experience.
The hotel is an outstanding venue for business travellers too. Its nine light-flooded meeting rooms have been given a full makeover including the latest conferencing equipment. The inner courtyard is also directly accessible for event participants.
Second Leonardo Limited Edition in Germany
The Mannheimer Hof is part of the exclusive Leonardo Limited Edition brand, a collection of hotels with their own individual character. This carefully curated group encompasses everything from a city palace with 22 suites to a Grand Hotel in a beach location. The Leonardo Limited Edition brand presently comprises thirteen hotels and includes icons such as The Grand in Brighton, The Dilly in London and The Midland in Manchester. In the German-speaking countries, it is represented by the Hotel Alden Splügenschloss in Zurich and The Nikolai in Hamburg. The Mannheimer Hof is the second Leonardo Limited Edition Hotel to open in Germany. It will be joined by The Posthouse in Berlin and the Badischer Hof in Baden-Baden in spring 2025.
Speaking on the occasion of the reopening, Yoram Biton, Managing Director Leonardo Hotels, stated: "The Mannheimer Hof returns an element of magnificent tradition to the city centre. Together with our partners S.H.I.R, we have made a considerable investment here. I am very proud to see the hotel restored to its former glory and am looking forward to the creation of a second home for local residents and for guests from all over the world."
Jan Heringa, VP Development at Leonardo Hotels, added: "The Mannheimer Hof is something really special which fits in wonderfully with our Leonardo Limited Edition. The hotel's history and tradition, its flair and elegant design and the broad range of facilities on offer, including the restaurant, bar inner courtyard and theatre, all promise a unique experience."
A traditional hotel with a design for the modern age
Each Leonardo Limited Edition hotel has its own inimitable charm and a unique history. The Mannheimer Hof is no exception in this regard. Its venerable location acted as a source of inspiration for Andreas Neudahm, the renowned interior designer who took charge of the revamp of the rooms. Because the refurbishments have respected the building's past, guests are now able to immerse themselves in the glories of the "Roaring Twenties". Andreas Neudahm's concept for the rooms has brought back the heyday of the early part of the 20th century, when the building first became home to a Palace Hotel. Deep shades of blue combined with gold highlights engender a sense of genteel elegance, whilst cream, nougat and brown hues conjure up warmth and cosiness. The high-end textiles and a dark wooden floor reflect a spatial feeling which is both exclusive and homely. Art Deco-styled lamps, pictures and decorative elements provide aesthetic eye catchers. Their shapes and patterns harmoniously complement the design theme.
Cuisine with a twist and a homage to Joy Fleming
Guests will discover culinary panache at the Twist, a restaurant that blends French cooking with Asian influences. Its modern, light and creative approach blurs the distinctions between traditional cuisines and emphasises diversity of flavour. Joy is a bar which completes the delectation by serving up a hand-picked selection of wines, plus the Mannheimer Hof Spritz and further signature cocktails. It is named for the great singer Joy Fleming, who was originally from Mannheim.
