Westin at Times Square Names Gerard Widder GM

. March 31, 2009

NEW YOR, NY, March 30, 2009 - The Westin New York at Times Square is pleased to announce the promotion of Gerard Widder to general manager. Widder is no stranger to the 863-room property, as he was part of the opening team in 2002 as director of finance, and has remained at the hotel throughout, most recently as hotel manager. In his new role, Widder will oversee all operations for the award-winning hotel and its 500-plus employees.

Widder takes the helm at an exciting time, as the hotel nears completion of a $20-million refreshment program. By industry standards the refurbishments are ahead of schedule, as the hotel has been open for just six years.

Prior to the opening of The Westin New York at Times Square, Widder held the assistant director of finance position at two Big Apple hotels, The Waldorf=Astoria, and The Regency, a Loews Hotel, and was also senior auditor for Loews Hotels Corporation. Widder earned his BS in Accountancy from Villanova University.

The Westin New York at Times Square boasts over 34,000 square feet of flexible meeting space featuring 32 meeting and breakout rooms, including a dramatic, seven-story interior atrium, and three ballrooms, ranging from 220 square feet to 3,500 square feet. There is also a 13-screen movie theatre, accommodating up to 526 people, connected to the hotel. All of the flexible meeting space features sophisticated and extensive audiovisual capabilities and full banquet and catering services. The property recently became the first hotel in the state of New York to receive the GS-33 Lodging Properties Silver certification from Green SealTM, and the first Westin Hotel worldwide to earn silver status.
