Spice Island Beach Resort, Grenada, Appoints Brian Hardy & Nerissa Hopkin to New Management Posts
GRENADA, October 31, 2005. In keeping with its impeccably high service standards, Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada has promoted Brian Hardy, CHA, to the position of General Manager and Nerissa Hopkin to the post of Deputy General Manager.

"Both Brian and Nerissa have played key roles in directing the resort's $12 million renovation and refurbishment, and when Spice re-opens on Dec. 15, 2005, the property will feature the finest five-star appointments and a management team well-poised to ensure a five-star vacation experience," he added.
Brian Hardy - General Manager
Before assuming the role of General Manager, Brian Hardy was the Resort Manager for the past four years and the Assistant Manager for the two years prior. As General Manager, he will oversee the day-to-day operations of the property as well as be responsible for managing a staff of 125 people, ensuring total guest satisfaction, and helping build a strong repeat client base.
Before joining the team at Spice, Hardy was Executive Assistant Manager at Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort in St. Lucia and Personnel and Training Manager of the Rex Grenadian in Grenada.
Hardy brings extensive training in human resource development and expertise in hotel management to Spice. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Arts degree, Hardy has a diploma in Hospitality Management and is a Certified Food & Beverage Executive and a Certified Human Resources Executive. He most recently attained new stripes as a Certified Hotel Administrator. He has also completed the advanced program in Human Resources Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as the Human Resources Management curriculum at the University of the West Indies.
Nerissa Hopkin, Deputy General Manager
Prior to her promotion, Hopkin was the Assistant Manager for six years. As Deputy General Manager, she handles all overseas purchasing for Spice and personally ensures that the overall operations of the resort are executed according to the vision of Sir Royston. Furthermore, Hopkin functions as the creative director for all of the resort's advertising, collateral material, and website production. In addition to being Deputy General Manager, Hopkin is one of the resort Directors, a title she was bestowed in 2000.
Hopkin has had overall 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Before returning home to Grenada in January 1998, Hopkin worked in reservations and customer service at the CN Tower in Toronto and then went on to join the Swallow Hotel Group in England where she went through their rigorous management-training program. She started at Spice as the Assistant to the General Manager in 1998 before being promoted to Assistant Manager in 1999.
Hopkin recently graduated from Strayer University in Washington, DC, with a Bachelor's Degree, Honours Cum Laude, in Business Administration and Management. She returned home in August 2005 to assume her new strategic role.
Hopkin also holds diplomas in both Hotel Management and Food & Beverage Management from the George Brown College School of Hospitality in Toronto, Canada.
